Risa Quartet will present its Midwest Clinic program, Echoes of Life. This program reflects on the life within and around us. The concert will open with Astor Piazzolla’s Michelangelo ‘70, transporting the audience to an Argentinian nightclub, followed by an inward reflection on life with Echoes of Life by Shuteen Erdenebaatar. The third piece on our program will bring the audience to the Pritzker Pavilion with Stacy Garrop’s Ribbons of Steel, followed by Desdemona’s Last Words (Jeff Scott) and Elegy: A Cry from the Grave (Carlos Simon) as we witness the tragic stories of loss. The next piece of the program, Addis Ababa (Guillermo Lago), will showcase the liveliness of the capital of Ethiopia. The penultimate piece on our program is a new commission of Isaac Boone’s piece, Saxophone Quartet No. 1. At the end of our program, we will close with Senbonzakura (Yuto Yamada), which translates to “One Thousand Cherry Blossoms”, symbolizing the renewal of life, and beauty.
